Remember our old friend Rose Jordison, who last turned up on my post Craigslist Craziness of April 28th, 2009?

Ah yes, you know the one: the woman who responded to my craigslist ad to sell my 16GB iPod Touch with an offer of less than half the asking price, and then browbeat me because I wouldn’t bargain with her. I have noticed over the past months that that post has been gathering attention, especially in the last few weeks.

I thought I’d point you to the post again so you can have another look at the now 14 comments about Rose’s wierdness. One I have reprinted here:

Here was my experience w/ Rose today:

So…I’m trying to sell a scooter on Craigslist. I dealt with Weirdos when I was selling my 87 300 zx…but Rose Jordison takes the cake..

This was my first contact with “Rose Jordison”:

“my offer is $400 dollars!!!!”

My First Reply: (I assumed she was canadian b/c her email address was @shaw.ca)

“$400 Canadian?

Take your offer, double it…add a little more, and I’ll talk with you.”

Rose:
“what do u mean canadian? whats your counter offer ?”

Me:
“$950 U.S. I saw you have a Shaw email address so assumed you were from Canada.

Let me know when you want to come down and pick it up.”

Rose:
“no $425 dollars!!!”

Rose again:
“your price is outrageous”

Me:
“Rose,

You haven’t even seen this scooter. You are a little outrageous. When did you become an expert in motor scooters?

Let me clarify a few things:
1- This is a 150cc scooter
2- 3 years old w/ 1400 miles
3- you can hardly buy a BICYCLE for $425

Let me know when/if you come to your senses and maybe we can talk some more. I think the reason that you still don’t have a scooter is because you are a little “off” in your expectations.”

Rose:
“Your scooter is only worth $700 to $800 dollars brand new yours is not. What I’m offering is a fair deal and Canadian money is what I will be giving u I shall not pay fees to convirt to us money and also u should be very happy that I’m giving u Canadian money because it’s worth more then yours and soon it will be at 20 cents over your dollar so how do u like that”

It’s the value. Next…It’s not my fault that you live in canada. I accept U.S. only. Not my fault you need to convert your $$. I am not wal mart.

Not sure why we are even talking. I can assure you that for anything less than $900 (U.S. of course) I will let it rot.

If you can buy 1 new for $700, then save up a couple hundred and make someone an offer at a scooter shop.”

Me Again:

conversion rate today is $.96…so @ $425 canadian you’re really way off.”

Rose:
“i did not know wal-mart convert U.S. to can.?”

Rose Again:
“TERRY… INCOMING THE CANADIAN DOLLAR WILL BE WORTH WELL OVER 10 CENTS OVER THE US DOLLAR THAT MEANS U PAY ME!!!”

Rose Again:
“WRONG ITS 97 CENTS U U.S. PEOPLE LIKE TO RIP OFF NICE CANADAIN WE ARE A WAY BETTER PLACE THEN U WILL NEVER BE SO PUT THAT IN YOUR PIP AND SMOKE IT TERRY HOPE YOUR DOLLAR KEEPS GOING DOWN CHEERS ROSE”

Rose Again:
“LETS DO $450 CANADIAN ”

Me:
“Call me when the Canadian dollar is worth $1.10 U.S. So, I guess we’ll talk in 10 years eh?”

Rose:
“NO IN 2010 THE END OF THE FRIST SEASON IT WILL HIT THAT”

Rose AGAIN:
“GO WATCH THE NEWS THE U.S.A. IS FALLING A PART OUR DOLLAR WILL BE WORTH MUCH MUCH MORE AND THE BEST PART IS U WILL BE BEGING TO GET OUR MONEY HOW DO U LIKE THAT TERRY”

Me:
“When our dollar falls enough, then I’ll probably sell you my scooter for $425. I listed my scooter in the US…not trying to ask you for anything I don’t want from my fellow AMericans.

You may be nice, but there is a reason that wal mart is full of canadian RV’s and I think it has something to do with you liking the US.”

Me AGAIN:

“You need to use your free healthcare for a mental eval.”

Rose:
“HA HA VERY FUNNEY NOT I DO NOT PARK MY RV IN THE US AND ALSO ARE U SAYING THAT WHEN OUR DOLLAR HITS PAR YOUR GOING TO SELL FOR THAT?”

Rose Again:
“REALLY?”

Rose Again:
“WE ALL ARE AMERICANS ”

Me:
“No…When your $$ is worth $2 u.s. then your $425 is starting to look enticing. Until then….continue to live in the fantasy land you call Canada.”

Rose’s Response:
“u will never get what you want and after this chat u might want to lower the price to $500 just to say you sold it!”

ROSE AGAIN!:

“i hope u like living in a littie home untill then..continue to live in the fantasy land you call U.S”

ME:
“Rose….Not quite sure what you’re trying to say there. Maybe the Canadian version of GMAIL doesn’t have spell check?

Anyway, good luck finding a $400 (Canadian) scooter. I’ll be sure to send you a picture of the happy new owner and a report regarding the sale price. I am sure it will sell much closer to $1100 than $500.

I have no issues with my house, but I can only assume that you live in a smaller house…probably a condo.

Anyway, in my youth I always had great experiences in Canada (and with Canadian women at that), so this exchange today has really changed my opinion. I mean, what was I thinking listing my scooter for sale under Bellingham, WA and asking to be paid in American?

Just post your massage services on CL, save up for a couple days, and call me when you get $1000 (US of Course).

“GET A LIFE TERRY YOUR WAY OVER PRICE U KNOW IT AND I KNOW IT YOUR BANK WILL FORECLOSED YOUR HOME BUT GOODBYE”

“Unfortunately, not everyone in the US has housing issues. If you have a 5600 sq ft (or is it square meters?) house, then you should be able to spring $1k for a scooter.

Seriously…go get a free mental eval.”

I thought it was over…THEN:

Rose:
“U should have housing issues?”

Rose Again:
“Say goodbye to that home. Going going gone”

Me:

“Rose,
Tell Balloon Boy and his family I said hello. I am going to put on my aluminum foil hat so I can’t hear your voice anymore.”

TJ, I apologize for Rose - I promise we Canadians are really a normal, stable lot. See the comments to the original post for another 3 new Rose stories!
